Requiem for a moped

2015 – France
In the vastness of a desert resembling a no man’s land, Dingo stages a visual tribute to a vanished legend: the moped. Half-buried in the sand, an old Motobécane rests beneath a makeshift cross, like a forgotten relic of a bygone era. A rite of passage, a symbolic farewell to the carefree freedom of the 1960s and 70s.
Around this mechanical grave, a group of bikers stands still — silhouettes caught between reflection and nostalgia. They are the heirs of the two-wheeled culture, those who traded their first mopeds for more powerful engines, yet never forgot that first thrill of freedom.
The harsh light, deep shadows, and solemn expressions give the image a mythical and ceremonial feel. The desert setting reinforces the idea of time slipping away — an era slowly erased by grains of sand, but leaving behind an indelible mark.
Dingo explains: “That moped was more than just a means of transport. It was the school of the road, the first taste of freedom, the apprenticeship of asphalt before the great adventure of the motorcycle. With this image, I wanted to mark the shift from one era to another — burying a part of the past in order to better embrace the future.”

The different types of frames and finishes available
The print comes with its certificate of authenticity and a Hahnemühle hologram affixed to the back.
The framing is left to your discretion.

The floating frame, sleek and modern, is one of the preferred framing choices for contemporary art galleries and museums.
The floating frame perfectly enhances your photographic print.
The spacing between the frame and the image creates a floating effect and highlights the image, making it an ideal art frame to maximize the depth and elegance of the artworks in our collection.
The print is mounted on a 2 mm Dibond panel and placed in the frame.
The depth of the floating frame is 4 cm, and the gap between the photograph and the inner edges of the frame is 0.8 cm for black or white finishes and 1 cm for wood finishes (Oak, Wenge, etc.). This arrangement creates a visually pleasing “floating” effect. Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.

This classic framing combines timeless elegance and sophistication, offering a sublime presentation for your most precious artworks and photographs. A wooden or aluminum frame, chosen for its simplicity and nobility, adds a touch of authenticity and refinement to your piece.
The mat, an essential element of this ensemble, enhances the artwork by creating a visual space around it. It highlights the details and nuances while adding extra depth. Carefully selected, it perfectly complements the artwork without overwhelming it, allowing every detail to stand out.
Finally, the museum glass, of exceptional quality, provides optimal protection against harmful elements such as dust, humidity, and UV rays. With its unmatched clarity and anti-reflective properties, it ensures perfect visibility from every angle, allowing your artwork to shine without distractions.
This harmonious ensemble transforms each piece into a masterpiece, ready to be admired and preserved for generations to come. Investing in a classic frame means choosing to enhance and protect what you cherish with unparalleled distinction.
