Rauðisandur, one of Iceland’s most astonishing and mystical beaches.
You wouldn’t expect to find such a paradisiacal beach at this latitude, as Rauðisandur lies in the Westfjords. Here, the orange-hued sand, sometimes called “red sand,” stretches endlessly, contrasting with the depth of black rocks that rise like sentinels of time.
The soft, diffused light, filtered through a heavy sky, dances across the sand’s shades, shifting between ochre and yellow, revealing a subtle and vibrant palette. Each stone, shaped by the elements, tells a story of erosion and resilience, adding a raw and striking texture to the composition.
