June 2024 – South Coast near Pákgil, Iceland

Pierre immortalizes a unique landscape on Iceland’s south coast, near Pákgil, where mist envelops a volcanic terrain scattered with moss and lichen. This scene magnifies the natural harmony between the deep hues of the rock and the vibrant bursts of green that cover it.

The mountain, almost ethereal beneath a veil of mist, exudes a presence that is both mysterious and imposing. The red and ochre tones of the volcanic rock, sculpted by time, create organic patterns reminiscent of the flow of solidified lava. In contrast, the vivid green of Iceland moss, or Iceland lichen (Cetraria islandica), adds a soft, living texture, a testament to nature’s resilience in such a harsh environment.

The misty atmosphere softens the contours of the landscape, creating a seamless transition between earth and sky, and lends the scene an almost otherworldly dimension.

This arrangement creates a visually pleasing “floating” effect. Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.
