The artist, inspired by the testimonies of the residents of a block of flats who never go on vacation, orchestrated this image by literally placing their building on a truck, symbolizing a departure into the unknown. The bird’s-eye view shows residents leaning out of their windows, each expressing in his or her own way the enthusiasm and diversity of summer activities: some reach for the ground, others pull out holiday-symbolizing objects such as baskets or colorful clothes fluttering in the wind. We perceive a scene of collective life, where individuals interact with each other and with their environment, creating a sense of movement and community. The juxtaposition of familiar everyday elements with the incongruous creates a striking contrast that illustrates the desire for escape and freedom. The lines of the building and the cars below direct the eye through the composition, while adding a dimension of depth to this bold, humorous staging. The print is laminated onto a 2 mm Dibond sheet and mounted in the floating frame to give it visual depth.
The Fine Art print is placed on neutral cardboard, then covered with a 7 cm beveled white mat and anti-reflective, UV-resistant museum glass, before being framed in black aluminum or wood (black, white, oak or wenge).
