2014 – La Hague, Normandy, France
A melancholy reverie before a sunset over the Cotentin cliffs. In the foreground, a path lined with wild grasses is rendered in dense black, almost silhouetted against the rest of the scene. The grasses, with their sharp, marked contours, add a rich, detailed texture, contrasting with the softer glow of the sea in the distance. Then, a barbed-wire fence rises up, symbolizing both protection and limitation. The barbed wire, in sharp black, creates a dark line that divides the foreground from the rest of the panorama. The sea stretches out majestically, its shiny surface reflected in a thousand silver flashes of sunlight. This luminous reflection offers a striking contrast to the deep blacks of the sky and foreground. The deep black sky adds a dramatic touch to the scene, evoking the late hour of sunset. The clouds blend almost indistinctly into this darkness, adding to the atmosphere of mystery and reverie.
