The Floating Frame
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Floating Frame
Advantages of the Floating Frame
The floating frame is a type of framing without protective glass, allowing you to directly appreciate the subtleties of your Fine Art photographic print and fully enjoy the texture of the matte or satin finish paper.
Disadvantages of the Floating Frame
The absence of protective glass means it is crucial to carefully choose the placement of your artwork.
Avoid hanging it above a heat source, such as a radiator or fireplace, or in a room with high humidity.
Likewise, do not expose it directly to UV rays.
These precautions will help to preserve the quality and durability of your print.
How does it work?
The floating frame is an elegant and contemporary framing method for your artworks.
-
The Dibond Mounted Print
The print is mounted on a 2mm thick Dibond panel.
The Dibond panel, a market reference, is a composite aluminum panel made up of three layers: two aluminum layers and a polyethylene core. This material is lightweight, extremely rigid, and stable, ideal for supporting your artworks in the long term. -
Wooden Frame Mounting
The mounted artwork is then fixed to the center of a custom-made wooden frame. This frame elevates the artwork from the back of the box, creating a visual depth. The frame is slightly larger (by 10mm) than the print, producing a pleasing “floating” effect. -
Hanging System
Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.
