The Absara and the wolf – diptych

2014 – Banteay Chhmar, Cambodia

The sale price corresponds to the two elements of the diptych, each measuring 100 cm on a side, for a total of 100 x 200 cm (plus frame). This first image of the diptych transports us into a realm of beauty and grace, with a sculpture of Absara, a celestial nymph of great beauty, imprisoned in the trunk of a cheese tree in Banteay Chhmar, often referred to as Cambodia’s“Little Angkor“. Absara, an emblematic figure of Khmer dance and mythology, is depicted in an elegant pose, her delicately curved body seeming to gently emerge from the trunk. The details of her finery, jewelry and headdress, are finely chiseled, creating a striking contrast with the rough texture of the bark. Her face, serene and slightly smiling, evokes a divine tranquility. The wood of the cheese tree, with its natural veins and nuances, brings the sculpture to life, adding an organic dimension to the aesthetic purity of Absara. In the second image, we discover an evocative sculpture carved directly from the trunk of a cheese tree, depicting the head of a wolf. The face emerges from the robust bark. The wolf ‘s deep, piercing eyes seem to follow the viewer, inviting a mystical encounter with this forest spirit. The grain of the wood, its knots and cracks, add a natural texture to the work, reinforcing the impression of a fusion between nature and art. The diptych unites these two images in fascinating harmony, symbolizing the duality and complementarity of nature’s spirits. On one side, Absara, symbol of beauty and serenity, and on the other, the wolf, incarnation of strength and vigilance. Together, these sculptures tell a story of interconnection between the wild and the divine, between raw power and ethereal grace.

Floating Frame

The floating frame, sleek and modern, is one of the preferred framing choices for contemporary art galleries and museums.

The floating frame perfectly enhances your photographic print.

The spacing between the frame and the image creates a floating effect and highlights the image, making it an ideal art frame to maximize the depth and elegance of the artworks in our collection.

The print is mounted on a 2 mm Dibond panel and placed in the frame.

The depth of the floating frame is 4 cm, and the gap between the photograph and the inner edges of the frame is 0.8 cm for black or white finishes and 1 cm for wood finishes (Oak, Wenge, etc.). This arrangement creates a visually pleasing “floating” effect. Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.
