2023 – Karcha Monastery, Padum Valley, Zanskar, Himalayas, India
A moment of deep concentration and spirituality in the austere, sacred setting of the Karcha Monastery in the remote Zanskar valley. This work, imbued with serenity and devotion, reveals the intimacy of monastic life during a Puja ceremony. At the center of the composition is a monk, bent over his prayer book or “pothi”, absorbed in reading. His face, marked by years of meditation and contemplation, is lit by a soft light. His gaze, fixed on the lines of the text, expresses intense concentration, while his finger methodically follows the words, guiding his mind through the sacred ritual. The worn cover draping half of her bust adds a tactile dimension to the image. The frayed edges and frayed fibers tell a story of simplicity and devotion, underscoring the austerity and modesty that characterize life in this monastery. The context of Karcha Monastery in Zanskar, known for its centuries-old traditions and Puja ceremonies, adds cultural and spiritual depth to the image. The photograph captures not only a moment of prayer, but also the essence of a tradition that has spanned the ages, preserved in the remote mountains of Zanskar. This photo was awarded the “Grand prix du public” at the 40th Salon des Arts exhibition in Saint Maurice (94).
The different types of frames and finishes available
The print comes with its certificate of authenticity and a Hahnemühle hologram affixed to the back.
The framing is left to your discretion.
The floating frame, sleek and modern, is one of the preferred framing choices for contemporary art galleries and museums.
The floating frame perfectly enhances your photographic print.
The spacing between the frame and the image creates a floating effect and highlights the image, making it an ideal art frame to maximize the depth and elegance of the artworks in our collection.
The print is mounted on a 2 mm Dibond panel and placed in the frame.
The depth of the floating frame is 4 cm, and the gap between the photograph and the inner edges of the frame is 0.8 cm for black or white finishes and 1 cm for wood finishes (Oak, Wenge, etc.). This arrangement creates a visually pleasing “floating” effect. Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.
This classic framing combines timeless elegance and sophistication, offering a sublime presentation for your most precious artworks and photographs. A wooden or aluminum frame, chosen for its simplicity and nobility, adds a touch of authenticity and refinement to your piece.
The mat, an essential element of this ensemble, enhances the artwork by creating a visual space around it. It highlights the details and nuances while adding extra depth. Carefully selected, it perfectly complements the artwork without overwhelming it, allowing every detail to stand out.
Finally, the museum glass, of exceptional quality, provides optimal protection against harmful elements such as dust, humidity, and UV rays. With its unmatched clarity and anti-reflective properties, it ensures perfect visibility from every angle, allowing your artwork to shine without distractions.
This harmonious ensemble transforms each piece into a masterpiece, ready to be admired and preserved for generations to come. Investing in a classic frame means choosing to enhance and protect what you cherish with unparalleled distinction.
